Calgon wins appeal in Canadian patent case

Calgon wins appeal in Canadian patent case Calgon Carbon Corporation announced that the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal has set aside a decision rendered by a lower court in June 2005 that declared invalid the companys patent for the use of ultraviolet light to prevent Cryptosporidium in drinking water. The case will move forward to trial in April to determine the merits of Calgons claim that the City of North Bay, Ontario infringed on its patent and Trojan Technologies, Inc. induced that infringement.
