Question: Q: I am trying to locate some information on Ashok Gadgil, who invented an affordable way for developing countries to purify water. Can you help or point me in the right direction?

Answer: A: Ashok Gadgil is with WaterHealth International. A paper on the water treatment unit to which you may be referring was presented by him at the 2nd Annual NSF Small Systems Technology Symposium in Phoenix, Ariz., in January 2000. Clancy Environmental Consultants Inc., for which Tom Hargy (a member of the WC&P Technical Review Committee works), has tested this unit, and its findings are briefly discussed in an article about ultraviolet light in WC&P's March 2000 issue. See pages 36-38. WaterHealth's website is: www.waterhealth.com
