Maximum Contaminant Level Goal. The goal set for the maximum amount of a contaminant to be allowed in drinking water. Has not been approved to become the MCL. The level of a contaminant at which there would be no risk to human health. This goal is not always economically or technologically feasible, and the goal is not legally enforceable.
