Biography of Samuel Marotta<b>From <i>Water Conditioning</i>, July 1977</b>: Sam joined Culligan in 1940 after graduation from Loyola University and a year with the accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst. In 1942, he was made chief accountant and later appointed comptroller. In 1945, he was elected treasurer and, in 1968, assumed the postion of executive vice president of finance, a position he has held up to the present time. In 1945, Marotta became a director. At the time Marotta joined culligan, the firm had sales of around $400,000 up from $61,000 the previous year. Sales of Culligan in fiscal 1977 were $93,000,000. Aside from his main responsibilities as chief financial officer, Marotta also guided and supervised the company's Consumer Division. For years he has counseled Culligan dealers in respect to capitalization, operating expenses, income utilization and investments. Marotta has been a member of the board of trustees of the Village of Northbrook; trustee, St. Norbert's Church, Northbrook; member and vice president, Sunset Ridge Country Club, director, Northbrook Savings and Loan Association and is a recent recipient of the Alumni Citation Award, Loyola University.
