Biography of Riley Ostby

From Water Conditioning, October 1971: He's an entrepreneur and a stable businessman, but one whose interest in water exceeds the limits of his Wolf Point, Montana community. This interest was apparent to Montana Governor Anderson who, last January, appointed Ostby to the state's Water Resources Board. This son of a homesteader took a predictable route through local schools and, then, to North Dakota State Agricultural College at Fargo. Before he could apply his training, the war intervened and Ostby entered the service in 1941 as an infantry private. Fighting Hitler, he was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and five European World War II campaign stars. In 1942, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and was discharged in 1947 as an infantry Major. Riley Ostby has long been active in WCAI affairs, serving for four years as a director and, then in 1970-1971, as vice president under retiring president, G. David Reynolds. He also has been director and president of the Servisoft Operators Association, a national group of that firm's dealers. Ostby and his wife Louise, have three youngsters. Ostby is active in church activities, the Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scouts of America.
